Wildlife-friendly gardening for sustainable living.
Wildlife-friendly gardening for sustainable living.

At Close to the Earth, we reconnect individuals with their gardens by working side by side with you. We believe that gardening should be a joyful and enriching experience, allowing everyone to enjoy the beauty of nature in their own space. And, at the same time choosing to be a guardian who supports all life, increasing biodiversity organically, with deep care.

This one-day, beginner-friendly, no-stress gardening course will be held on Sunday 12th April in the new garden at the beautiful Verey Bookshop, Pooley Bridge. Together, we’ll demystify growing edibles and flowers from seed, working with carefully chosen varieties suited to our Cumbrian climate.

Transform your outdoor space into a beautiful oasis, where all life thrives.
Close To The Earth is 100% chemical free and uses regenerative processes, mimicking nature, creating habitats for all - through all seasons.

Or maybe you need motivation and company to garden. Elizabeth can work alongside you.

Working closely with you and the natural world, we will co-create your ideal space. This can be an evolving design process or an all-in-one approach to create a beautiful and functional garden to meet your specific needs. Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to rejuvenate your existing garden, we'll bring your vision to life as makers of habitat - with right plant, right place, soil health and water conservation techniques.

We can assist with wildflower meadow creation, vegetable and fruit growing, and creating greater diversity on existing grassland or lawn with a perennial approach.

Water is the source of all life. We can install a bespoke pond and plant it up with native and wildlife friendly plants. Everyone says they wish they had been bolder and designed a bigger pond. Side-by-side can implement your vision.

Elizabeth, founder, gives engaging, animated talks and courses. Topics include Regenerative Gardening, A Wealth of Weeds, Attracting wildlife to a New Build Garden, Planting for pollinators, Gardening in a changing climate. Get in contact to discuss
